Ritely: AI Product Descriptions
Effective Date: March 13, 2026
Last Updated: March 13, 2026
Ritely ("we," "us," or "our") operates as a Shopify application that generates product descriptions using artificial intelligence. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

1. What Data We Collect
Ritely accesses product data only from your Shopify store. We do not access, collect, or store any customer or personal data from your store.
Product data we access:
- Product titles, descriptions, tags, and product types
- Product images (URLs only — images are processed but not stored)
- Product variants, pricing, and options
- Product metafields and collection associations
- Store name and domain (for account identification)
Data we do NOT access:
- Customer names, emails, addresses, or any personal information
- Order or transaction data
- Payment or financial information
- Staff or employee data
2. How We Use Your Data
We use your product data for one purpose: generating product descriptions. Specifically:
- Description generation: Product data is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate descriptions, meta titles, meta descriptions, and bullet points.
- Brand voice analysis: If you provide example descriptions for voice training, those examples are analyzed to build a writing style profile for your store.
- Image analysis: Product image URLs are sent to Anthropic's Claude Vision API to extract visual details (colors, materials, textures) that enrich generated descriptions.
- Quality scoring: Generated descriptions are evaluated against your product data to verify factual accuracy.
- Usage tracking: We track credit usage (number of descriptions generated) to manage your subscription plan.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond providing the Ritely service.
3. Third-Party Data Processing
We use Anthropic (the company behind Claude AI) as our AI processing provider.
- What is sent to Anthropic: Product titles, descriptions, tags, metafields, image URLs, and brand voice profiles — strictly the data needed to generate descriptions.
- Anthropic's data handling: Anthropic does not train its AI models on data submitted through its API. All inputs and outputs are automatically deleted within 30 days of processing. Anthropic's Commercial Terms and Data Processing Agreement govern this relationship.
- No other third parties receive your product data for processing purposes.
For details on Anthropic's data practices, see Anthropic's Privacy Policy and Commercial Terms of Service.
4. Data Storage and Retention
- Product data: Stored in our database for as long as your account is active. Used to display generation history, enable description reversion, and maintain your brand voice profile.
- Generated descriptions: Stored in our database so you can review, edit, revert, and re-publish descriptions.
- Brand voice profiles: Stored for as long as your account is active to maintain consistent generation quality.
- Upon uninstall: When you uninstall Ritely, we mark your account as inactive. Within 48 hours, Shopify sends a
shop/redact webhook, at which point we permanently delete all data associated with your store — product data, generated descriptions, brand voice profiles, and account settings. - Anthropic processing data: Automatically deleted by Anthropic within 30 days of processing, regardless of your account status.
5. Data Security
We protect your data using:
- Encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data transmission
- Encrypted database storage
- Shopify's session token authentication (no third-party cookies)
- Access controls limiting data access to authorized services only
- Error tracking and monitoring (Sentry)
6. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

- Restrict how we process your data
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.

- Data controller: You (the merchant) are the data controller for your product data. Ritely acts as a data processor.
- Sub-processor: Anthropic acts as a sub-processor. Data transferred to Anthropic (located in the United States) is governed by Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) as required by EU data transfer regulations.
- Data Processing Agreement: Available upon request at [email protected]. Covers processing scope, security measures, retention, and sub-processor obligations.

If you are a California resident:
- We do not sell your personal information.

customers/data_request, customers/redact, and shop/redact. - We do not use merchant data to train AI models.
- We access only the API scopes required for our service:
read_products and write_products. - We do not access protected customer data.
